Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2026 | Last updated: June 11, 2026
My Digital Diary ("the App") is developed and maintained by Hemant Koli ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the App on Android devices or through our web portal.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly:
- Journal entries: Daily diary content including goals, tasks, affirmations, habits, and reflections that you enter into the App.
- Financial records: Expense amounts, income amounts, categories, payment methods, and budget settings.
- Time tracking data: Project names, time entries, durations, categories, and hourly rates.
1.2 Information collected through Google Sign-In:
- Name: Your display name from your Google account, shown within the App.
- Email address: Used to uniquely identify your account for cloud sync.
- Profile photo: Displayed within the App's sync screen.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect:
- We do not collect your location, contacts, phone number, browsing history, device identifiers, or any information from other apps on your device.
- We do not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- App functionality: All user-created content (journal, expenses, time logs) is used solely to provide the features of the App.
- Authentication: Google Sign-In identifies your account to enable cloud synchronization.
- Cloud sync: Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore under your unique user ID, enabling real-time synchronization across your devices.
- Backup: Local backups are stored on your device. Cloud backups are stored in your Firebase document.
- Export: When you export data (Word, Excel, PDF), files are generated on your device and shared through Android's standard share mechanism. No data is sent to our servers.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, which encrypts all data in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256.
- Your data is stored under your unique Google user ID. Firebase security rules enforce that each user can only read and write their own data. No other user — and not us — can access your data.
- Local data is stored on your device using Android's sandboxed app storage, which is isolated from other apps.
- We do not operate our own servers. All cloud infrastructure is provided by Google Firebase.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information with any third party, for any purpose, under any circumstances.
The only third-party service involved is Google Firebase (for authentication and cloud storage), which is governed by Google's Firebase Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Advertising
The App contains no advertisements of any kind. We do not integrate any advertising networks, SDKs, or tracking tools.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data is retained as long as you actively use the App.
- Local data deletion: Uninstall the App or clear app data from Android Settings → Apps → My Digital Diary → Clear Data.
- Cloud data deletion: Sign out from the App and contact us at the email below. We will delete your Firebase document within 30 days of your request.
- Data export: You can export all your data at any time using the Export feature (More → Backup & Restore → Export). This ensures you always have a portable copy of your data.
- Account deletion: You may request complete account and data deletion by contacting us. Upon verification of your identity, all associated data will be permanently removed from Firebase.
7. Children's Privacy
My Digital Diary is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below, and we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data at any time through the App or by using the Export feature.
- Correct your data by editing entries within the App.
- Delete your data locally (by clearing app data) or from the cloud (by contacting us).
- Port your data by exporting to standard formats (Word, Excel, PDF, JSON).
- Withdraw consent by signing out of Google and uninstalling the App.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable laws. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
